
William C. Slavey
b. 30 May 1849 in Pulaski Co., KY d. 30 August 1901 at Taylor Co., KY
William served in the Union Army during the Civil War in Company I, 49th Kentucky Mounted Infantry from 17 Sep 1863 to 23 Oct 1864. On 23 Oct 1864, he transferred to the 7th KY Cavalry and a month later, in Nov 1863 was shot in head in by Confederate guerrillas. However, he did survive. It appears that William lied about his age when enlisting in the Army. Although his service records show him being eighteen when enlisting in Somerset, KY, he was actually only fourteen at the time.
William was the son of Pleasant Slavey (Slaven) and Susannah Hill.
He married Eliza Jane Hatfield 9 June 1870 in Casey Co., KY
